I've got the chance to buy one of these at a good price. I know they're made by Miroku, but all the Miroku/Browning Guns I own are built to perfection.

Need any Misfit's Opinion and Experience before I pull the trigger on this purchase.

I don't own a 44-40 Rifle, but would like one to compliment my various revolvers.

Any information useful...

BUY IT (OR I WILL!)

Model with a 24" barrel. I'm sure the 20" may be handier, but still a nice gun.

Traditionalists correctly say the 44-40 WCF is more closely associated with the 1873s. Probably true, but the 1892 is much stronger and lighter.

As far as a 44/40 goes, the only one I have is a

Reeder Custom revolving carbine with a 16" barrel. The only one Gary ever made and it sure is a beauty...and accurate too. One day I will take a deer with it but need to research what would make a proper loading for deer sized game. I have only put 6 rounds of moderate loaded 200gr cast bullets thru it but that wouldn't classify as a deer load.

As Jim and I posted a few days back, the old loading manuals list some snappy loads. Many will match the "modern" 44 Magnum.

Ammo would have to be segregated to prevent use in the Colts and Clones, but that's easy.

I have a saddle carbine in .45 Colt, I think the rim

Is too small compared to the better fit .44. The saddle gun has so thin a barrel it can’t be dovetailed for the front sight (like the .357 is). The octagon should have a dovetail front sight in .44. Actually my 92’ copy is the 1990’s Pre-safety Rossi! The Win. Has a tang slider?

It does have dovetail sights...

I have an Octagon Barrel 45 Colt Marlin 1894. Gary built me a yummy 38-40 WCF Carbine Barrel too.

My 357 Magnum rifle is a Uberti Baby Rolling Block.

I like the revolver cartridges in rifles...

Fantastic rifle, tAke JT’s advice.

I like my ‘94’s but nothing wrong with a 92 and the 44/40.
