I built mine on the OM .357 chassis 6-shot

I wanted a lighter carry trail gun. Kept the alloy grip frame too. Of course Gary prissed it up to my liking. Sort of a Dolly Parton style of a sixshooter, but hey, that's me. If you wanted to shoot heavier loads I'd suggest not taking my direction, it's very lively with magnum level loads. Note it does have a very heavy barrel to help keep things toned down. A 200 gr. at 1200 is very blissful.

I also have a .401 GNR on a Super Blackhawk chassis with a 6-shot and #5 grip frame, all steel. IT has much thicker cylinder walls close to the bolt cuts than you would have with a .38-40. It's a real nice powerful rig for me. I also had a .40 S&W cylinder to shoot cheap ammo, which does great! The .401 has just a teeny bit less capacity than the .38-40 but the brass is so much stronger and resilient that it makes up for it loading it to seam busting pressures. The .401 GNR is a very powerful ctg. shooting a 200 gr. FNGC at 1600 fps from my 6".
