2005 law said gun companies can't be held liable for actions taken by people that own the guns. Allowing that will just open up a can of worms. People that get hurt in car accidents can sue the car manufacturers even if it was totally the driver's fault and so on. Suing an inanimate object or the makers of that object is the start of some really bad law suits.
