Auto Mags and shooting the 44, 357 and 41 Auto mags. Lee Jurras told me to try a compressed load of Winchester 680, which is pretty much the same as the newer AA 1680. Anyway, when I shot the 44 ammo with 296 or H-110 when the brass shot out it sometimes went down my collar which brought on something similar to the Watusi or maybe the Mashed Potato. It burned like hell. When I switched to 1680 and a brass went down the collar somehow it was cool, no heat at all. I have no idea how it did that but it did.
These days I use a lot of 1680 in a lot of calibers and it just plain works. 1680 is a ball powder just like 296, H-110 and several others and I am a strong believer in compressed powder loads and a magnum primer with a ball powder. Lee pounded that into my head many years ago and I have stayed with it because it works.
