I am sitting here with two Ruger Vaqueros.

They are .44 Magnum and were described as New Model Vaqueros. This was to distinguish them from the old 3 screw Vaqueros I would assume. They are on the bigger Vaquero frame that the ones I see in the local gunshops. Both have 2 digit prefixes on their serial number. The frames are case hardened and I love to shoot them in .44 special. 180 grain FTX will really do a number on a ballistic get dummy, in fact, it is hard to tell the difference between the 180 grain special FTX, 165 grain special FTX and a 240 grain magnum. All three make big holes! I like the older Vaqueros better than the new ones as they are heavier and help with recoil. (Just my opinion on that).
