The .356 GNR is a really neat caliber.

Basically gives you .357 Maximum performance in a stock chassis gun. Likely one of the cheapest ways to get into the GNR proprietary cartridge game. That and the .41 GNR. Just re-chamber a stock .357 or .41 and get a set of reloading dies.

The old .38 cal. is a much bigger killer than one may first realize. Now there must be some rational thinking, and D.B. Wesson did take Moose with the .357. Good thing he did not encounter a large Bear however! I will never forget how Doug shot clean through a Nilgai chest to backbone and out, with a 5" .38 Special and 125 gr. FN cast bullet! I saw it with my own eyes. A finisher shot.
