They have a very consistent 4" of eye relief which is very good for the magnification. The .416 has a good chamber type brake so it helps hugely! Many hard kickers seem to have about 5-6" of recoil that most shooters (including me) struggle to tame. I have come about those figures by numerous video observations, many of my own, using .458, .375 UM, .416 Rigby, and Remington, and .470/.500 Nitro Express in 9 to 10 lb. guns.

I try to be scientific in my study using a model but it gets shady having fun. I think the 4" eye relief on a controlled .416 can be managed with a little practice. My gun has a shorter carbine barrel that eases the power back to .416 Taylor rifle levels too, so that helps.

Doug wanted some more magnification for a chance at a longer 200 yd. shot (in case it presented itself) so we swapped the Zeiss 2.4-10X for a VXIII Leupold 4-14X. It's on his Blazer 9.3X62 shooting Nosler 250 gr. Accu-bonds at 2500 fps. It does give you an edge if you are for sure shooting at 200 yds. plus. Like being able to easily hit an apple vs a pumpkin at that distance. I guess if you have a $15k trip on the line you get things set up the way YOU want them. I just do what I'm told, usually.
