And its a keeper. Using PRVI Brass, WLR Primers and Hodgdon CFE Black Powder was interesting.

With the below mentioned Hornady 150 grn SSTs I easily broke the 2200 fps barrier with no hint of excess pressure. This bullet is long and required seating to the cannelure.

Hornady also makes the same bullet in 123 grns. This was the next one to be tested.

The long throat on the Ruger #1 allowed me to seat these bullets to the bottom of the case neck. This left the cannelure about 1/10" out from the case mouth.

Adjusting the powder accordingly, I safely reached 2625 fps with an ES of 13. Accuracy was around 3/4-1" at 100 yards.

The new CFE Black Powder was developed for this case capacity. It proved capable of 200 fps more than most of my loads. A worthwhile increase for sure.

Ill try it in my 307 GNR next. Bet it works just as well in it.
