The ejector rod tip wedged in the chamber between the tapered projectile tip and chamber wall. I found that by grinding a totally flat tip on the ejector rot end I got a little bite on the bullet tip (.300 GNR) and it popped the rounds out much better. FWIW.
I also found that those pointy bullets, even the varmint explosive types, intended for near 4000 fps speeds are tough. My FA .224-32 even at 2200 fps did not expand too much on the little Muntjac. I used the Nosler 40 gr. BT. Just one test.
