Loading for the 25-20 Reeder Revolver...

So far this morning I've loaded with three powders and four bullets. I've not experienced one single case to give setback issues.

This gun has even passed the ultimate test of fast burning pistol powder. These powders are notorious for setting back cases before they expand to grip the chamber walls. Not so with this gun.

Unique worked so well in the 250 GNR, it was my first choice here too.

5.0 grns of Unique behind the 55 grn GT Cast HP produced 1390 fps. All but one bullet made a single hole at 25 yards. Including the flyer, group was under 3/4"

Cases fell out of the chambers and the barrel didn't show a hint of leading.

The saga continues...

Congratulations Huey!

LOL Sounds like the case necks are expanding quickly to grip the chambers and not set back. I was pleased to find pretty fair velocities with faster powders you usually have around or available. I had some HP38 which meters very well. It was very good in the .255 Banshee. As you know small variations in powders can give some wild swings so uniformity of the charge is paramount.

Keep us unformed.

I went back to Fryxell's 25 Hornet build...

So I have more to try. The 25-20 has only a tad more capacity, so all data is valid.

I have loaded until cases were a little sticky, but cannot make one set back.

I noticed one more anomaly in my comparison. The 55 grn Cast HPs do much more damage when fired from the 1 in 10" than the 1 in 14". Rotational spin really shows up in this application.

The CF factor is facinating, interesting observation.

Just to see what it would do. Damage much more pronounced with the fast twist gun.

In theory that is 30% more spin...FWIW

For years I've been told the 25-20 wouldn't work in revolvers. But, I couldn't ask for more than this gun offers.

I think the success comes from very tight cut chambers. The brass expands very little before it contacts the chamber walls. This happens before the case sets back.

This gun has instantly became Revolver #1 in my collection.

it looks good too
