does the barrel and mag tube need to be changed, but the internals have to be also. The internals may have to be hand made to run the wider rimmed 50-110 thru the action that is set up for the skinnier 45-70 rim. The front of the action would have to be opened up also to allow the wider rim of the 50 to drop thru. There might be other considerations there also. You are looking at a very expensive and time consuming project. I wouldn't have any idea of the cost but I am sure $3000 wouldn't be far off, maybe a bit more. And with our current backlog of orders you would be looking at a minimum of 2 years.

You would be better off selling the 45-70 and finding one of the custom 50-90 or 50-110s you see every now and then on the internet.
