Been looking at classic old Colt’s again

It’s a terrible vice I can’t overcome. I have a personal SP101 snubby I carry sometimes. Problem is it weighs the same as a loaded G19! It’s a chunk.

My wife totes her Reeder embellished M60 Smith every day. Even though she picked out and bought a SIG 365X. I like the little Smith and really like the 637,37,360,638 lightweights. But from way back I used to be a Colt guy. I have a couple antique novelties but I’ve been looking at the Snake guns again. On the list is a vintage D-frame with the factory hammer shroud. So vintage cool. But the one that really has my interest is the Agent. A “Cobra” alloy frame model but a shorter grip frame. Really unique. 6-shot yet pocket size. They had three “issue” runs. First had a thin pencil tapered barrel and no ejector shroud. Second issue in the 70’s (?) had a slick modern barrel and front sight with ejector shroud. Third issue was an even more plain version with matte finish and plain or rubber grips. Very cost cutting but totally functional.

They all weigh 15-16 oz. and are not made for heavy loads or extended use. Carry a lot and shoot a little. I bet many out there may have not had a full box of ammo through them in 60 yrs.

Charter and Taurus make very good and cost effective, serviceable models. Colt too has reinstated some great modern revolvers. But to date not anything very light weight or charming as the old Detective Colts of yesteryear. Sometimes you just want a wheelgun.

I have yet to figure out how to upload pics here, but I have an Agent with the factory hammer shroud. Love it and carry it from time to time.
