the 355 GNR. 30-30 blown out straight with a sharp shoulder and short neck. It will beat the 35 Remington with ease but is pleasant to shoot.
I will get you some pics pronto. It puts a 180

grain bullet out of a 12" barrel at well over 2300 FPS, A 200 grain at nearly the same and a 225 grain at well over 2000. I have almost 70 proprietary cartridges that I have developed thru the years and there are probably 25 or more that are my favorites. This is one of them.

Of course that was the Encore chassis. On the smaller frame that .355 GNR makes lots of sense. The .35 REM is just terrible to load for in the TC. You need to be careful with that teeny shoulder and the rimless case. The .355 GNR solves all this and adds capacity, on a case that’s easy to get and anvil tough.
I’m trimming the .400’s at 1.97” (as a .38/55) then trying to form them. Blowing out shortens them only a teeny bit. I want to try 14 gr. 4227 and cornmeal topped by a hot glue button next. A twist on the old timers trick. I’ll post results here, if positive.
I used 1680 - 28.0gr and a 30 cal cast bullet to build

pressure , even a 30 cal 100gr jacketed ( anything cheap) shot down the 35 bore will build enough pressure to blow out the shoulder.
I have a lot of Surplus 1680, so I always use 1680 on Gary's 30-30 based cartridges 7,30,8mm,.35 .

Me too Sean. I bought 4 of the 8 lb kegs

It's pretty bulky, you run out of room in a .45 Colt but

by then it's about where you need to be. I have a good 300 gr. load about 900-1000 fps. Boy is it accurate. Great for many other med. capacity rifle rounds too. Praise the lord we got some of that, and the surplus AA#7. The NATO pistol powder is great for 10mm Auto hot loads. It has me pretty well covered. I also got some of the IMR7383 but it is specialized, and certainly not for everyone. (.50 Cal. Spotter round powder) Each lot has a different character. But I have several good loads figured out for 6mm, .308, and .30-06. I've yet to develop them for the GNR's but I couldn't share the data anyway. Any port in the storm.
What got me into using 1680 powder is that it works for so

many calibers. Plus when I was shooting my Auto Mags a lot 1680 was the perfect powder. When hot fired brass ended up down my shirt I did the boogaloo trying to get it out. But with 1680 a fired brass right out of the gun was cool, no hot brass. Plus it flowed out of the hopper like salt and was perfect for pouring test loads whereas powders like 4350 and other stick powder didn't. There are probably other reasons I like 1680 but mainly just cause.
Also 1680 is perfect for ALL the SuperMag based cargtridges.
