before it got too dark to use the chronograph and then started raining I managed to chrono some loads I have been playing with.

45 Colt Linebaugh Ruger 8" barrel
7 feet from muzzle to chronograph
#454424 .452" Winchester Large Pistol Primers

4.0 gr. Bullseye Average of 10 shots
648.9 fps

5.0 gr. Bullseye Average of 10 shots
713.3 fps

8.5 gr. Green Dot Average of 10 shots
1082.2 fps

230 gr. .45 ACP hardball
16.0 gr. Blue Dot Average of 10 shots
1184.7 fps

The 4 gr. Bullseye load is fun and fairly accurate in my gun. Sorta like shooting wadcutters in the .38 Special.

20 yards

Well done , the blue dot load is fairly stout.

I have yet to see if it is accurate. Will as soon as I can.

That lightest load beats the British .455 Webley

Their velocity is listed at 600 fps! You could see the bullet, I think! I have BB guns that shoot faster than that?! Yet, Pondero Taylor killed a lion one night that was chasing the livestock, using a Webley and military ball ammo. I think God was just giving him another chance…
