I know the issue of the 6.5 Creedmore is a hot bed of controversy.

Why so? I just want some information from those who are more knowledgeable about the topic.

Second. I saw online a company selling 15" Encore barrels chambered in 6.5 Creedmore. It seems like a good deal, in a way, but I wonder what kind of performance one would get out of a 15 inch barrel?

Thank you for any replies. I am just trying to enlighten myself.

I have used one (rifle) to kill two deer and several hogs (one in the 300-pound range).

All have been dropped with one shot; one deer required a second finishing shot.

IMHO with correct ammo it is a great 300-yard medium game round. Would not use for anything bigger than cow elk.

Again, my opinion is it was WAY oversold as a wonder round/laser beam/death ray and greatly disappointed folks when it did not deliver that level of performance. lots of ammo out there to choose from.

Your milage may vary..................

The CM is no better or worse a mousetrap than other medium bore cartridges, it has benefitted from better marketing.

For objective reloaders it’s a good case

Just a restyled .308. Straight sides, crisp shoulder, adequate neck. It’s built to really show loading skills for potential accuracy. It would be hard to get it wrong where it wouldn’t shoot good. The 6.5x55 is a little longer but tapered case, for the military applications. The CM is a perfectionists .260 Remington.

I get what you are implying and the manufacturing

tolerances have improved over the last generation and that helps as much as anything else. Combined with optimal case capacities it helps the Arrow, but it is still in large part up to the Indian.
