Boy maybe I need to branch off into the ammo marketing

With my advancing years I remember many neat old historical things I can re-label and claim as new and fancy, give a catchy name and market.

As mentioned that ".22 Punch Defense" round. It's simply a .22 Long, circa 1871 repackaged with a flat tipped bullet. Same speed as a .22 Short, same bullet too. The .22 Short (smokless), .22 Long, and .22 LR all went about the same speed, slightly supersonic most elevations. About 1080 fps. The LR got a little faster in a rifle tube, maybe 100 fps more with the 40 gr. bullet. This is the normal "HV" ammo we all shoot.

If you want a defensive .22 LR round you might be better served by the CCI Stinger (36 gr. at 1650 fps rifle) or maybe one of the Aguila Super Maximum rounds. It's a 30 gr. at 1700 fps, rifle. BTW it also has a "flat tip" bullet. The .22 WMR which arguably has a much better projectile, lightly jacketed, runs about 1350-1400 fps from a 5" barrel handgun. It looses about 600 fps from the full length rifle version. It just does.

I have a .17 HMR revolver, 6.5" that spits the teeny 17 gr. bullets at an honest 2000 fps. It's great in populated areas as the bullet will literally fly into dust if it hits anything. But I'd not fancy shooting anything bigger than a cottontail with it. I have heard of guys taking small coyote with it.

The 6.5 Creedmore it simply a "not really improved" .260 Remington, which is itself an Americanized 6.5x55. The .350 Legend (the only ammo you could be sure to find during COVID) is a modernized .351 WSL from 1907. Ditto the .400 Legend, a restyled .401 WSL from 1910 with a few thou shaved off to use 10mm bullets. The .300 Whisper aka Blackout is just a tiny bigger .30 Carbine to use the 5.56 case head and AR bolt faces. The very second the .221 Fireball case came out wildcatters necked it everywhere from .14 to .40, instantly. There is more of course, but I applaud anything that furthers the sport of shooting. Anything that sells it, but don't be ignorant of history. I'm holding a rifle in my lap that is exactly 138 years old, the original 10mm!

dont forget the .458 dia stones for your sling LOL
