Is there anyone loading Ammunition for Gary Reeder different calibers at this time? In particular 510 and 429 Thanks, Tim.
Do you have the brass, dies, powder and bullets?

if you do there may one of the folks on here that will do it for you. Both are super easy to load. There are probably 100,000 rounds of 510 brass out there somewhere. Larry, the original custom loader used to crank hundreds of rounds just about every weekend. He had 50,000 rounds of 510 GNR brass made and then I had another 50,000 made so there is a lot out there. Then Brian, the second custom loader did the same with 5 or 6 other rounds. The 429 is a simple job, just size and load the case. The 429 GNR is based on the 454 brass which is readily available.
My third reloading manual has all the loading

info for you. If you don't have the manual, get me your address and I will send you one, no charge.
If you or a buddy reload it’s as easy as any

Other line of cartridges. The .510 is a little tapered but you basically treat it like a big .45 Colt etc. Many old buffalo cartridges projectiles work. Mainly the .50 “express” cartridges with 300-350 gr. bullets. .50 Spencer, .50-95, or .50-110 Win. etc. It mimics the old buffalo gun ballistics perfectly. I use bullets 0.510-.511” diameter. Gary’s manual shows H110/296 or 4227 propellants. I worked up several loads using more traditional powders like Unique. A velocity of 1000-1200 fps (moderate for what it can do) is way more than anyone would likely need. It will shoot clean through a Bison. How dead can you make something?!
The .429 GNR is a necked cartridge that you treat much like a rifle cartridge. You want to preserve as much neck tension as possible, so go easy on the flairing prior to bullet seating. Also, don’t go crazy trying to do a heavy roll crimp. Again, so you don’t iron out all the neck tension. Bullets of 0.430” and 310 gr. or less seem best. My favored powders are H120/296 using small magnum pistol primers, or 4227.
I’ve truly enjoyed both cartridges and used them successfully on game. Plus the adventures and friends along the way. God bless.
