This is a continuation of the "Buffalo Scout" type of inexpensive single action line with a cast frame from some type of alloy. They have been making them since the late 50's in some form or another. In the 80's FIE in Florida were importing them, prior to that Rhom in Germany made them. The regulations had them add a goofy but effective manual safety.

Some I shot made in the 60's spit lead a bit. Heritage has a expansive line up and very strong market presence. I bet they are not bad these days. There is a "Storekeeper" model that has caught my eye. .22 WMR too. For the price, if it goes bang reliably, how could you go wrong. The Ruger Wrangler might be a better choice at the same price but choices are fun.

I have a "Custom" Hawes import from German that I had a gunsmith in my teens install a cut off Remington 550 rifle barrel on. I tapped the frame for a Bushnell scope mount myself. Later a friend helped me source a .22 WMR cylinder as well. It shoots amazingly accurate, a real sleeper, just for fun.lol
