Rifle Scope

Good morning all. I have a Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5-20x44 rifle scope on my rem 700 and the other day I looked at it and the horizontal crosshair came loose and was drooping down. I sent it back to Nikon to be repaired and they are telling me that they have determined that it is beyond economic repair and since they no longer sell rifle scopes they are giving me a store credit, which to me is pointless because it doesn't solve my problem. So I guess I am on the hunt for a new rifle scope but have been out of looking for them for so long I don't know what is good anymore and what is not. Can y'all point me in the right direction of a decent rifle scope around/under $1000 or so. It does not have to be the same power as the one I had but would like something more than a 3-9x

Thanks in advance
Mike G

I like the Burris Veracity line of rifle scopes

I have two 2x10 power on two of my rifles. And have had a 3x15 and a 5x20 models when I had some long range rifles. Really enjoyed them and had no complaints

Oops! 5x25 not 5x20

There are numerous manufacturers in the scope space these days, but for years I have been happy with Burris. I picked up 2 “Droptine” models during Covid, one for me and the other for my oldest son. Both are 3x9 with a BDC, we have them on a 270 and a 30-06. Been very happy. Leupold is another fine scope, but their prices have just grown exponentially. Weaver and Redfield were good for me too. All of those are within your budget (well, Leupolds might be pushing it), and the glass is quality. Please let us know what you wind up doing. I prefer the opinions and experiences of guys on this list.

for an all around scope try the Athlon Mida's lineup,

they are priced below 1000 and no questions asked replacement policy. I shoot them on several of my rifles, good glass, good repeatability on the turrets, get a gen two with locking zero stop.

Sig Sauer has a great line up

of scopes. Great glass- They pulled some of the higher ups from Leupold when they decided to branch out into optics. My guess is they occupy the old Redfield plant.

Nikon credit is great if you are into

well with you.
Like one of the other Misfits I would recommend the Burris. I have used Burris on my handguns for ever and unfortunately they no longer make handgun scopes but their rifle scopes are hard to beat.

Good afternoon all. I have looked around and taken some of your advice and looked at the Burris Veracity PH model in 3-15x44 and they seem to have good reviews. Not sure why but Bass Pro has them for $699 while everywhere else has them for $999 so I may pick one of them up. I have a few Burris handgun scopes and they have not let me down so I figure why not. Wanted to thank you all for the insights and knowledge in helping me out. Appreciate it
