It looks like a fantastic .44 Special. In this day of 21-shot plastic wonders, it looks quite formidable!
L-frame 5-shot .44 mag.!

I have one and primarily shoot these 185 Grain WC @ 850-900 FPS. Great hiking and back up hunting revolver. Have not tried any full power stuff!!![[image]](images/uploaded/202602201958116998bcd3b8230.jpg)
I think we are old enough to know that

full house .44 Mags was not the original mission plan for this platform. I can almost feel that sting.
We worked up a very hot .41 Magnum 265 gr. hunting load for the Ruger 7-1/2" scoped hunter model. They were running about 1450 fps. I tried exactly THREE out of my 3" M657 with the combat wood grips. I'd had enough.
Picked one up and wrote to Brian Pierce

I’ve shot full house 44mag, 240gr over 24gr h110. Velocity is just at 1300. Certainly have to hang on to it though! Usually, I shoot 9.5gr of LONGSHOT with the same bullet for just under 1000. I like it very much.
But that is an N frame, isn't it? The model 69 is L frame

Full bore 44 Magnum is ruff in one of the new L frame guns. After talking to Taffin I ordered one of the new L frame model 69s. I ran some hot factory loads and they were not pleasant at all. Taffin was right. The L frame model 69 should have been a 44 Special gun.
I was talking with Taffin right after he got the model 69 in

He wasn't too impressed. He said it should have been a 44 Special. In 44 mag it is not any fun shooting. I thought the same after shooting a cylinder full.
44 mags are wonderful, I've shot one for 60
