One of my relatives called me ...

and said a friend had given her a gun. It needed "some work" and she wondered if I could work on it. I asked her what it was but she didn't know. It was "just a gun." So I said I would take a look at it.

When it was brought over I discovered that it was one of those expensive RG's!

All that was wrong with it was it was missing the cylinder pin/ejector rod. (it does both) I looked up the cylinder pin on the internet and they want more for one than the gun is worth! So I found a threaded rod and made one.

I told her the gun was a piece of junk. I am debating just stripping it and selling the parts ... threading the barrel and chambers and loctiting in some threaded plugs or just beating it into small pieces and throwing it away. I am leaning toward the latter.

Unless I can get Gary to rechamber and rebarrel it to 25 ACP.

Amazing. You are so talented Jim!

when it comes to working on guns I should stick to horse shoeing. :-)

Cast metal construction techniques, it seems. Took major manufacturers 40 years to catch up! lol

I have one even worse than that, we call it the Leonard gun. Leonard and my step-dad were out shooting and centered a 29 gr. Super-X HP clean through his pointer finger. On the way to the hospital they got to discussing ER protocol and police reports. They diverted to the drug store in stead. Some bandages, peroxide, and iodine saved his finger and gangrene. He didn’t play piano anyway. But the little DA with a SA loading gate revolver goes bang every time you make the call. .22 Shorts only.

I think Gary’s dad used one potting cottontails?! Maybe I dreamed that.

No, you are right. I bought him a 4" junker like

the one shown. It was the brand that the idiot shot Reagan with. I was maybe 17 or 18 and didn't know the difference. Amazingly the little clunker was accurate. My Dad would pull it out of his pocket and usually at 20 yards or so when the bunny either slowed down or stopped to see what spooked him, Pop would hit him. I tried with the little gun but couldn't hit the ground.
