I looked in my main load data book here at the house for the AR-15 and I have a small correction. For my Arma-Lite 180 the Win. 296 was the best powder. For my AR-15s the 748 was the best powder. A next best powder for the Colt AR-15s BLC2 was the most accurate. I have 7 AR-15s (why I have no idea) and they liked the 748 and BLC2 as far as accuracy is concerned.

I forgot about BLC2. We actually used it in the .338 GNR

and several others GNR calibers based on the .405 case. Worked fantastic, except for a HUGE muzzle flash visible even at high noon! We sort of used it on purpose to impress the guides at the Y-O. lol

BLC2 works great in most medium rifle applications too. I think NATO 7.62x51 ammo was loaded with it in some lots.

Winchester 748 is great if you can find any. I used it a bunch in GNR cartridges and even the .204 based range. Great powder too.

Yes, both great choices

I have burned both in my 222s so a 223 should be fine too. Thanks for the suggestions!

Slightly off AR's ... 748 works well in .30-30 also

with all bullet weights from 130 to 170.

I use 748 in both and in my 30GNR as well.
