When I lived in Riverton, I took a ride south on 789 to an area called Red Rocks. As I drove towards Rock Springs I saw a herd of elk on the horizon. Then I spotted something. I said to myself, that is way too big to be a coyote.

It was a wolf.

For some strange reason, I never got around to hunting wolves. I should have though.

Outside of the NW corner of the state, wolves are classes as varmints. So if you see one, you can shoot one or more. Many would like to that done in the category of more.

Anyways. I do plan to go back in the future and hunt for a wolf( as well as other things)

So. How would you go out for wolves in the Rockies?

Myself? I'd use my TC Encore in 3006. It has a factory barrel of 15 inches with a Leupold scope. Set up some kind of decoy with an electronic call and see what happens.

Just out of curiosity, what would you do? Maybe some of you have already shot some wolves.

Thanks for putting up with some of my posts.

As much as I wanted, I never was able

Tried calling them. The young would answer me but they never came in.

Just before going to sleep I walked around my tent. The next morning I found this.
