Prayers needed

Hey guys it been a long time since I’ve logged in or posted, but looks like my login still works. I still check in often to see what WB has been up to.

Friday I lost my grandpa who has also been my best friend and hunting and fishing partner for all 35 years of my life. I was not ready or prepared to not have him in my life anymore and it has really hit me hard.

I was glued to his hip from age 5 until I could drive, and even then I didn’t stray far. At their house every weekend and then some. Plus all the normal stuff you do as a family. Dozens and dozens of trips up to the cabin where we fished, shot grouse, and rabbits, and many unsuccessful deer hunts. Plus many successful deer hunts here at home where deer are more plentiful.

They let me build a house next door which is all I ever wanted and it really sucks I only got to live here a couple years with him around. Now I have to figure out how to go on with this huge hole in my life. My wife knows I’m hurting but I haven’t been able to put into words the true depth of the pain I’m feeling, my heart is broken.

If you guys could send some prayers this way I’d appreciate it, and any advice if you’ve got it.

I will pray for you ...

been through that with grandparents, parents and my wife as well as with life-long friends .. the latest being John Taffin.

Here's something that a lady I enjoy reading wrote:

“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
― Anne Lamott

Thanks Jim, I knew you’d have something good

Even when you think you are prepared, you aren’t. Remember all those good times because you will never get over the loss, but you will come to accept it. Those memories will then make you smile.

So sorry for your loss Zach.

Be sure to talk about how you feel. Talk to your wife, your friends and family. Talk to your grandpa. He will always listen and respond even when he isn't physically here.

Talk to your friends and family here. There a bunch of guys here who I'm sure will be happy to talk to you anytime. Family runs much deeper than blood and genetics buddy. Don't let yourself get into a bad place. Your grandpa wouldn't want that.

Talking is great therapy.

Sorry Zach, you have prayers. GOD BLESS YOU.

This transition. Now it’s transferred to YOU. All your memories and experiences are inside you to mentor to the next generation. The stories, tricks, tips, memories can be passed on to another young person. In effect you are to fill those now vacant shoes. No one is ever “ready” for that time of transition, he wasn’t either long ago. You will never be perfect, nobody is.

You need to acknowledge your creator, and the plan for your life. Give HIM the acknowledgement for your blessings every day. The greatest, as described be Jesus, is the most dedicated servant. A concept to live by. Find your gifts, use them to serve and edify folks, love everyone. You will get your peace. God Bless!

Loss takes you on an emotional and, at times, gut-wrenching roller coaster. However, it does get better; although it may not be today or tomorrow, it will ease.

Grandparents are awesome. Mine have been gone a long time. The sting is now gone but the joy is remembered.
I’ll add, remember what made you love him so, then be that for someone that needs it. Your are blessed to have had someone who made you feel this way. Not everyone does. Lean on Jesus.
