I’m 99.99% certain it’s a lie….

But too many folks around here claim to have “seen” a black Panther around these parts over the last 50 yrs., for something along the lines not to be true. I myself, have heard “Panthers” scream at night, three times in my life. A fascinating sound once you get past the initial alarm. But I always figured this to be some form of “Mountain Lion” or Cougar.

This photo (!) is a large male Jaguar, isn’t it?! I cannot imagine them still being around here or migrating from South America. Still, I’d rather not bump into him with only my flashlight and pocket .380. He can have the chickens or goats!

I have bumped into them several times here

In my neck of the woods in NC. Black mountain lions, most of the time they hurried on out of the way. But, a couple of times, they just sat there curiously watching...

But Jaguar! The Leopard’s bigger cousin!

Lots different from a Cougar or Mountain Lion. Cats you can tell a male by the size of the head in relation to the body. I’m respectful of a Cougar, but horrified at the prospect of a 200-300 lb. Leopard cousin’!

Oh yeah! Big difference in them! Suppose they

Could migrate that far north ?? Might would have to slip something bigger than my 380 in my pocket lol.
Been pondering about getting one of those 44 Special Charter Bulldogs.

We had Jaguarundi's from Mexico

in our part of Arizona once in awhile. The first time I saw one was at night. Our goats were acting scared. I pulled out my rifle, had a light under the barrel, and was looking around. On the hill above the goat pen was a big black cat. I thought maybe a large housecat when I first saw it. Then I realized it was about 5o yards away. At that point it ran off.

hahaha its the same picture they posted

out here in Idaho, stating it was a 'rare' black mountain lion
now we do have mountain lions in the hills nearby and once about 4 yrs ago one wondered in town and was darted and transported by fish and game, it had a pretty severe cut to the face and was blind in one eye from some accident. But no black ones
