The .45 Colt Trapper is proving to be a great gun. I have been trying different bullets through it and so far the SSK 270 gr. bullet has been the most consistently accurate bullet.

I pushed a .457" ball through the bore. The barrel is extremely slick and smooth with no tight spots of any kind. It has stayed clean with everything I have fired through it so far. No leading at all. I have run bullets #454190.... #454424 .... #457191 ... SSK 270-451 ...and a 225 gr. 45 ACP powder coated bullet through it. None heavier than 18 gr. of 2400.

The bore is 5 groove and measures .4518" near as I can tell.

It only has a 16" barrel and these ghost ring sights with post. At 100 yds. a pumpkin would sit on the front sight. But I hold as consistently as I can and shoot a group. I was shocked that I could usually put 3-shots (cast bullets!) into a 1-2" group at 100 yds. That's crazy considering my sight picture.

Several Misfits have borrowed the gun, never having seen it before, and shot hogs with it at HHC.
