I have a hankerin for a 356gnr revolver. I have plenty of candidates. I’m sure the ruger 357 bisley would be the best choice, but I have a host of mid frame 357s, both old and new models.
Does anyone have a mid frame356gnr? If so, any reason not to go that route? I also have a 10 1/2ā€ barrel from a 357 max that would make a cool shooter, if it could be added to the mid frame.
I would love some opinions on this.

You are basically asking for a .41 mag., on med. frame.

That has to do with peak pressures in relation to cylinder thickness at the bolt cuts. Typically that is the most thin part of the chamber wall.

I have a 356 on a 7 in blackhawk bisley, a great shooter and

a simple rebore on a 357 cylinder, I also have a rebored 356 in a smith n frame, model 27, it requires reduced loads from the blackhawk. So unless you can find a 41 or 44 in a mid size frame, I dont think there is enough room for the rim dia of a 41 mag. but I am not a gunsmith so my opinion is just 2 cents worth

I believe Ruger makes a mid-frame 41 mag now.

While I cant comment on the cartridge fit on the mid frame I can say I had an original Vaquero (large frame) 45 colt barrel that fit straight up to a new vaquero, so Yes your barrel will fit.
