.500 Nitro tinkering….

I love the cool barrel and they are pretty rare. My frame had some fittment issues and couldn’t open wide enough to insert cartridges. After MUCH looking and figuring I decided to take a few thousandths off the front of the lug, between the barrel and that shelf. The cam ejector tip lives there too so I was careful. Taped up for protection, hand files were used for precise control. Works fine now.

The tapered barrel rifle forend I have is too small for the full bull barrel. What forends (synthetic) are a better fit? I used a shotgun forend once but it used larger thread screws. I’m not sure I want to drill out, re-tap this barrel.

Also I don’t think I’m going to scope this time. Someone always gets dinked. No matter how strong the caution. I’m thinking a cheap red dot on a Weaver type base. It’s just a fun shooter.

I remember shooting Eric's 500 Nitro at an HHC several years ago. I'm sure his was synthetic stocked, loaded full tilt they'd rock ya lol.
I have a couple barrels that need some tinkering also, 1 will almost close so I may try and take a little off of that one.

I'm sure I spy some pink Crocs in that one pic lol.

lol, I got to be me. Everyone swipes my yard shoes

So I got some pink ones. I can usually find them. The mailman saw me wearing them once, he said “hey brother, I don’t judge”, lol.

My problem was not opening wide enough to clear the chamber. So my frame, it maybe it was the lug about 1mm too thick or forward in a jig. I dunno, but that fixed it. I went a little at a time, checking as I went.
