Full length guide rod on 1911? Thoughts?

is that the recoil spring with only a short guide might "bind" and hamper reliability. I'm sure worse with wear. But I've never had any problems with either. The Full rod is trick kit, adds a bit to disassembly though, not bad.

. . .the spring looked like it would be subject to kinking or binding, but I've never experienced it. I've also never used a long guide rod, so I really can't comment on the supposed benefits thereof.
Maybe a solution in search of a problem?

I think it comes down to the task at hand. Daily carry or target? TEOTWAWKI? I’ve run FLGRs in both. My takeaway … they **may** be worth the effort as they can enhance reliability and therefore functioning by keeping the recoil spring from kinking which (again) may translate into an important component to the guns' overall accuracy. I think it all comes down to the individual shooter and his/her perceived needs/wants. Either way, I’d run the gun for a while to check overall reliability with vs without.
