I found an old photo of my pre-hunt testing where I successfully shot a Blackbuck at the Y-O fulfilling a bucket list item. It was tough, on the third of fourth try at 100 + yds.

This was my shooting max loads of BLC-2 powder (real flame throwers), and Hornady 200 gr. bullets. The slugs were recovered from dry sand barrels. You have to have pliers to bend the expanded jackets, a tough bullet! I thought I used Nosler Ballistic tips but that is my .378 GNR loads, the 260 gr. at 2350 fps from a 12" barrel. I have a custom FA2008 in .378 GNR.

Note how my loads are specific to my barrel seated just off the lands while closed in the breach. That's how I obtained a max. of 2600 fps in my 14" barrel.

Gonna try this

Thanks for the info, im gonna try this load and see how it performs

You need to measure the bullet seating with the barrel off

and the extractor flush. If your bullet is long and you snap the action shut, forcing the bullet into the lands, you can
"unload" the round. Pulling the bullet right out of the case, a mess. I'm certain there are other procedures for finding the correct throat depth. It can change with bullet ojive, so the max seating out is unique to the bullet and chamber throat. Give yourself some room for error. No on the hunt surprises.

Hornaday makes an inexpensive bullet comparsion

tool, that allows you to measure the distance off the lands to the ogive of the bullet. allows seating depth to repeat within a couple of thousands. A very useful accuracy tool
