Picked up a box of cowboy action .44 magnum ammo not long ago.
240 grain hard cast at 1150 FPS. I am assuming it is capable
of taking whitetail, I will shoot it in a Super Blackhawk with
4 5/8" barrel. Anyone here have any experience with this load?

Should shoot completely through, any angle

But not a lot of energy transfer. So bullet placement is paramount. As usual. I shot through, completely, twice a broadside Bison with a cast bullet at that speed. It was a .510” 410 gr. though. But point made.

I’ve seen several deer shot clean through with a patched round .440” ball at maybe that impact speed from 50-75 yds.
