I dug out the ancient 2’ long Competition Electronics model I got from Gary long ago. Its housing is glass reinforced heavy plastic, not just ABS. The grey streaks on its top I remember were some 10mm bullets I skipped across at 1400 fps! It’s just marked, none the worse. A new battery and two Red Ryder shots across it to check (268 fps FWIW) and she’s good.
I re-seated the 9x25 rounds with on hand 115 JRN, short enough to fit the G20 mag. Poor choice bullet for this application. The steep ojive and limited 1.25” OAL makes it easy to push deeper while feeding rounds. That can increase pressures fast. I need a more blunt bullet with straight sides and minimal sloping to the meplat. The .357 revolver bullets or maybe Hornady XTP might be the best bet for this and .357 Sig. Mr. Taffin wrote a great article with tips on loading the .357 SIG. it goes the same for any short necked shouldered round. He warned me it was a bit of trouble. I don’t think it really excited him much. lol
I’ve shot enough to know my load with the 115 gr. is safe for my rig. I used Unique, probably a little fast for this bigger round. Likely good for the little SIG.
The 115 from the 6” were running 1528 fps and just cycling the slide with the stock recoil spring. Brass right at my feet. The weird Glock firing pin impressions mask some tells. But no smearing of indentations to show a weak firing pin spring or unlocking wile pressures are high. Nice crisp edges to the marks and round edges around the perimeter. So far so good.
