Any of them would do, some good rounds no doubt.

But best is subjective. A question to incite passionate discussion.

I have a .30-06, love the 7mm Mag. I have had several .375 H&H but never seemed to keep them. No longer interested in things like the Nosler but I'm sure it's good, its a 7mm after all. Ditto the .280's. and 7-08. The latter is probably the best factory single shot handgun round there is, and arguably deer sized critter round as well. The .300 Win. has no flies, proven to way over 1,000 yds. Ditto the Lapua, maybe x2! The .270 win. is great because it's so close to a 7mm. The .270 WSM works too but is problematic when you try to reload it to factory levels, you cant. The .257 cal. is fin but you have to place the bullet with more precision compared to a larger caliber, you just do, and can! Same for the .264. 7mm is just better to me. You can see the "writer" of the list is a 7mm guy too.
