The 1911 is lots more complicated in mechanical timing that I ever realized. Built totally around the .45 ACP, and I can see it's adaptation over to .38 Super way back. The forces imparted the the gun were not that much more as to the speed of slide travel and hammering the gun.

They have done some amazing things with it but with much knowledge applied.
