My son got a .30 GNR barrel at HHC and we made him a fine hunting handgun. It's totally his rig and he took a nice Hawaiian Ram with it using a 150 gr. Nosler Ballistic tip. It seems with our gun the velocity always hovers around 2400 fps no matter the powder, with a 150 gr. or so bullet. It's not really magic, it just works. The accuracy is so good I nee no reason to try to make it go faster and risk some loss. I think I just used Gary's manual loads with whatever powder we had around.
Roman's rig is a G2 with Pachmayr furniture and a sling. Burris 2-7X on a Weaver alloy base with Burris Zee rings. It shoots .30-30 Win. perfectly while making cases. The barrel has no brake or porting and really does not need any.
