Health Department the last three years before I retired. Our budget was 680,000,000 million. We worked closely with Medicaid and Federal programs who had budgets in billions. One thing I noticed was people who had been in the business never really saw or absorbed the scope of the last 6 zeros. Charts, graphs etc. Were always listed in units of a one hundred thousand, million or billion so our budget on spreadsheets. They became inured to the true amount. $680 million in not nearly as visual as $680,000,000.00.
