carbon mixed with the .22 LR lead. I soaked it in a parts washer for a good while. Thankfully it's very good quality and made from titanium. The little knife blade and buffing wheel do it no harm. randy has a good idea for finishing but it would have been a mess if it had been just thrown in. Look at that cloth and what I had scraped off so far. About 1500 rnds. worth. These things do require maintenance, more often the better. You could certainly glue one all stuck together. I'm not a big fan of this design but it works well enough and can be cleaned up. You get what you pay for with these. For .22 RF to .22 Hornet gas volume the little SilencerCo Spectre II is a pretty good one.
